Despite the vast amount of research around the development of modern instructional practices in public education, there is little motivation into adapting the classroom environment to match. This has resulted in a persistant passive model of teaching based on common misconceptions about how students learn and the impacts of classroom design. The writer posits that intentional classroom furniture design is an effective way to create more active student-centered learning.  This project describes the possibilities and effects of flexible classroom design. 

Conference Proceeding document describes how a team of educators, to bridge the gap between policies and practice, incorporated the UDL principles to lesson design in the Open Discovery Space portal. The portal is a place where users can browse and build educational content, share lesson plans, and scenario templates. A link to ODS is included.
