Maryland is one of the first states to incorporate UDL principles into state educational regulations. This resource describes Maryland’s path to statewide UDL implementation and provides specific examples for states and other nations that want to explore the feasibility of incorporating UDL in education. It also focuses on the actions taken by the Maryland State Department of Education to build an understanding of UDL and prepare educational leadership to implement the UDL framework within Maryland districts. It includes a description of the initial Maryland UDL task force activities and a UDL self-assessment tool designed for local school systems to reflect on the progress of UDL implementation.
