The UDL Professional Development Network (UDL-PDN) is a campus-wide, multidisciplinary project that brings faculty together in professional learning communities (PLCs) for exploring UDL guidelines and principles and applying them in their own teaching. PLC members work together in small groups to explore advances in the learning sciences and flexible curricular materials in order to develop a deep understanding of UDL and its application to instruction in higher education.

A “Learning Walk” is a brief, structured school or classroom visit that provides administrators, principals and teachers opportunities to reflect on teaching techniques, learning practices, and student engagement. A "UDL Learning Walk" allows participants to see UDL in action. It helps bridge the gap between theory and practice, engaging teachers, school administrators and district leaders in active learning about UDL.

The UDL-PLC series provides you with 15 modules that guide the development of a professional learning community focusing on UDL. 

This first module sets the purpose of the UDL-PLC.  As part of this module, you will review a video on the basic tenets of UDL.  You will reflect on your role and the purpose of the UDL-PLC and share your thoughts with your PLC colleagues.

Introduction To Developing A PLC: UDL-PLC Module Series

A PLC dedicated to UDL is an effective way to support the first year of UDL implementation across schools or departments.  The first year of implementation is a critical time to explore the UDL principles and guidelines at a deeper level through ongoing discourse.  This series of modules developed and used successfully by the HIAT Team of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), provides a structure for the development of a UDL-PLC.  It assumes that foundational professional learning on the UDL framework has already occurred.
