How does one truly integrate and sustain the application of the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework to alter teacher practice and improve student outcomes? This resource will examine the districtwide implementation of UDL in a Midwestern school district and will feature the systematic planning and implementation of a districtwide professional development program. You will explore resources, tools, and practical tips that are needed to support teachers in initial understanding and subsequent continuous application in order to move forward in deepening one’s understanding and acquisition of skills to apply the UDL framework in a meaningful manner.

This resource describes findings from a collaborative partnership between a teacher preparation program and local school district, focused on providing on-going, intensive professional development for general and special educators in high-needs middle schools. The professional development activities focused on applying UDL to teach the NGSS. This resource also provides the framework used to design and implement the professional development as well as feedback from teachers involved in the project.
