Dr. Cassandra L. Hunt is an Assistant Professor of Special Education at Louisiana State University Shreveport. Her research interests pertain to Universal Design for Learning measurement and implementation.
Prior to becoming an assistant professor Dr. Hunt was a doctoral student at the University of Kansas in the top ranked Department of Special Education. While at KU Dr. Hunt studied under her advisor, Dr. James Basham. Her dissertation was titled "Does UDL Exist in the Wild: An Initial Study Based on Observations of Videos of Instruction." Before pursuing her doctorate she was an ED special education teacher and girls’ basketball coach in the Kansas City Kansas Public School District. During her teaching career Dr. Hunt gained experience teaching in a rural, suburban, urban charter, and urban public schools. Before becoming a teacher, she earned her BS in Communication Disorders and her MAE in Special Education at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri; where she also played women’s basketball as an undergraduate.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her partner, friends, and family, as well as her dogs, Lily and Tucker. Dr. Hunt also enjoys spending her Sundays in the fall watching Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs win. GO CHIEFS!
