Rebecca Chappell began her career in education in 2015 as a special education assistant. While completing her Masters, she was first introduced to Universal Design for Learning (UDL) through her coursework Technology for Diverse Learners at Plymouth State University. Soon after receiving her Masters of Education, she moved into a full-time position as a middle school special educator and case manager. In this position she planned, prepared and delivered direct instruction in interventions and pull-out services; co-taught in inclusive classroom settings, developed and implemented co-teaching models in middle school language arts and mathematics classes, and facilitated a middle school wide classroom based RTI model with team teachers. In 2018 she joined Campton Elementary School’s UDL Team in a 3 year-long immersion with the NH CAST UDL Network, where she took on the role of UDL team facilitator. In this role, Rebecca designed The Teaching and Learning: CES Curriculum Design proposal, to explore and evaluate how to grow Universal Design for Learning in the context of Campton Elementary School. She also provided direct support to teachers, designed tools, and created professional development workshops in UDL. In 2020, Rebecca received her Experienced Educator Certificate in the Special Education Endorsement from the New Hampshire Department of Education.
In 2021, Rebecca decided she wanted to have an impact at the instructional level and explore instructional design opportunities and decided to leave the classroom to pursue credentials in UDL through LearningDesigned.org and Cast.org. Her focus now is building her expertise in UDL, and possibly provide educators in New Hampshire a 100% online, accredited and instructional centered coaching experience in UDL one day.
