The principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) argue for considering the diversity of all learners when designing higher education courses. Doing so requires fewer accommodations be made at the request of individual students because inclusive design practices help all learners succeed.  A university professor reflects on the stories of students seeking accommodation.   

Center Director David Rose walks us through the UDL Guidelines, a detailed framework of principles, guidelines, and checkpoints for creating curriculum that supports all learners. Classroom examples of the principles in action are included.

The new home for the UDL Guidelines! In this first release of the new site, CAST has updated the look, but the Guidelines themselves, their descriptions, and the research behind the Checkpoints haven't changed. CAST is constantly improving this site with more resources, updated research, and evolving the UDL Guidelines as a living, breathing tool for implementing the UDL framework.
